Time Flies

and all that malarky. Yes yes i'd basically forgotten all about this thing, heh. Blame a new computer, and i'd like to say 'an exciting life' but we all now that's not true =P
Anyway, the last tracks had been up far too long, and it seemed like i might as well pop a few new songs up while i'm at it. Oh, and, i now have a new computer, which currently has almost 3 solid weeks of music on it, mostly straight from my cd collection. It's fantastic being able to have so many songs at the click of a mouse. So that should only make my music selections easier, or better, or something? Yeah something... I just gotta get myself, over me [Couldn't resist...]

# Bring A Trident, That'll Learn 'Em - Fleeing From Finales

I was lucky enough to go and see Zebrahead again a few weeks ago (read about it here) who were unsuprisingly awesome. What was a rather unexpected though was how good the support would be. Far and away most notably, this gem of a band. They have a very strong Starting Line/Something Corporate feel, and i can't get enough of their 6 track self-titled EP which i highly recommend purchasing!

# Don't Wake Me Up - The Hush Sound

It was Eddie who first got me to listen to this fantastic band whilst having a drink down the Fat Cat. We Intertwined had me utterly hooked and i bought both of their albums within a couple of days. Their second outing, Like Vines, is definately the better of the two. Despite being on Fuelled By Ramen and therefore already being known by thousands of fans worldwide, i can't help but feel this album is underated. As with The Format's Dog Problems album, i can only envisage this getting more and more airplay. It's a beautiful album, and i think this song really shows what they can do. Oh, and, they have two singers, male and female. They sort of take it in turns doing the lead vocals for songs, and it really works well.

# Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too - Say Anything

First up, it must be noted i've heard precious little else from this band, and i haven't been overly impressed with what i have, but this song deserves very special mention. I only came across this song whilst listening to my full library on shuffle. It was on one of the Rock Sound magazine cd's Sound Check which comes with it each month. If someone told *me* about it, i wouldn't expect to like it, but somehow i was utterly won over by the chorus "I called her on the phone and she touched herself" heh. Goes to show that free cd's, like this and the HMV ones really are worth holding on to!

# Apeman - The Format

And finally an old favourite, The Format. Still can't really remember life before them, heh. This time you get a cover of The Kinks song which they gave away as a 1 track single with online Merch purchases in November. I'd never heard the original, but as soon as i put this into my cd player i knew i'd love it for a very long time. I'm not really sure how the Format manage to cover songs so well but they don't seem to have struck out with anything i've heard. Which reminds me, i know own a turntable (finally) and being able to hear their cover of Glutton Of Sympathy was worth the £40 alone. I'll try and rip it in the near future but, that would take quite a lot of effort!

So that's it for now. Not a very exciting post, but maybe i'll actually keep up posting. It's something to do right? =P

  1. Love the apeman cover, good stuff. Gutted I missed the ZH gig, but I must say i'm not overly impressed with the Fleeing From Finales track. Sounds a little too similar to so much stuff out there.

I don't understand why The Hush Sound haven't broken over here, it's seriously good stuff.

Keep blogging away, I need my Jonsmusicopinions fix, =)
